It's been a journey, friends.
and I’m so glad you’re here!
May I share how I got here, too? My story starts with a mountain I wanted to climb but couldn’t.
I was 48 years old and 100+ pounds overweight. My health was in danger, but life continued on. I was at Rocky Mountain National Park to celebrate my 25th anniversary with my husband, and we were going to climb a mountain together. But the climb was too difficult; I couldn’t do it.
As I watched my husband start the ascent without me, I felt completely defeated. It wasn’t just the pounds, and it wasn’t even the other chronic health problems I had been battling—fatty liver disease, pre-diabetes, sleep apnea, and painful ovarian cysts. Looking up at the mountain, I felt the unbearable emotional and spiritual weight I had dragged around with me for over 30 years.
As tears ran down my face, I despaired of ever being free of this physical exhaustion, emotional anguish, and spiritual disconnect. I was as low as I had ever been, and I knew I had to lighten this load if I wanted to climb mountains (both literal and figurative). In desperation, I prayed a simple prayer: “God, I just want to feel better. I’m so tired of this heaviness in my life.”
And that’s when it happened…
My faith moved a mountain. Not the one in the park—my husband climbed that one alone. But the mountain of despair I had felt nearly every day of my life crumbled in the face of my faith and resolve. Everything changed for me that day. I came home and scheduled a sleep study. I began the slow, steady ascent up the mountain of physical health, and to my delight, my spiritual and emotional health improved with every step I took.
Today, my body has been set free from decades of obesity and a plethora of related health issues. My mind has been renewed. I can think clearly again! And most importantly, my spirit has been redeemed—I feel whole and connected to God like never before. I’ve learned that what I had been craving all those years of wandering in the desert was joy.
Every time I share this story, I see those same tears of despair on the faces of other women, and I desperately want to help them unlock this joy for themselves. Today, I pray a new prayer. “God, I just want these women to feel better. Release them from the heaviness in their lives.”
I want to help you call on the faith that will free you from the physical, emotional, and spiritual burdens you can no longer drag up whatever mountain you’re climbing.
You’ll get a kick out of my spiritual gifts: exhortation, faith, leadership, administration, and giving. No wonder I do what I do, and adore every second of it!
