Well-Fed over Fend blog

Psalm 81:16 declares, “But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” These words offer a profound promise of God’s provision and His desire to satisfy our deepest needs. Do you trust this promise?

In John 6:1-15, we encounter a powerful story that exemplifies this promise, where Jesus feeds a multitude of people who were no doubt hungry. This story resonates with our journeys as we choose between trusting God’s provision or striving to fend for ourselves. I’m big on coaching choices. Stick with me here as we witness Jesus reveal His compassion and divine provision.

Struggles of Fending for Ourselves

Imagine being part of that crowd, feeling the pangs of hunger gnawing at your stomach. Can you relate to their struggle on a personal level? I was in a similar position for three decades, battling health struggles and constantly trying to fend for myself. Like the crowd in John’s account, I felt the weight of hopelessness and exhaustion from striving in my own strength.

A Perspective Shift

But then, just as Jesus did for the multitude, He reached into my life and offered a different path. He beckoned me to trust in His provision, surrender my self-reliance, and seek His perspective when circumstances seemed impossible. It was a paradigm shift that would forever transform my journey.

Embracing God’s Provision

Trusting in God’s provision does not imply passive inaction or complacency. Rather, it is an active decision to invite God into our struggles, seeking His guidance and surrendering our circumstances into His loving care. It means aligning our actions with His will, knowing that His provision extends far beyond what we could accomplish alone.

Beyond Our Expectations

When we trust God’s provision, we open ourselves to a world of possibilities. We find solace in knowing He sees our needs and actively works in our lives. Just as Jesus took the five loaves and two fish and multiplied them to feed thousands, He can take our meager offerings and turn them into an abundance of blessings.

Finding True Satisfaction

As I let go of my self-reliance and sought God’s perspective, I experienced a profound transformation in my journey. I discovered that true satisfaction and nourishment come not from my striving but from embracing God’s provision. In those moments of surrender, I found healing, restoration, and a deep sense of contentment that surpassed anything I could have achieved on my own.

Today, I invite you to reflect on your own story. Are you still caught in the cycle of fending for yourself, relying solely on your strength and resources? Or are you ready to embark on a journey of trust, surrendering your circumstances to God and allowing His provision to be revealed in your life?

Remember the key verse, Psalm 81:16, which promises that God will feed us with the finest wheat and satisfy us with honey from the rock. Trust in His unfailing love and provision. Seek His perspective before you wander, trying to meet your own needs. I did just that for thirty years and do not recommend it!

When we embrace God’s provision over the endless struggle of fending for ourselves, we find true nourishment for our souls. We become well-fed, not just physically but also spiritually and emotionally. So, let us release our self-reliance, surrender our circumstances to God, and open ourselves to His transformative provision. As we trust in Him, we will discover profound peace, contentment, and great satisfaction that can only come from embracing His divine nourishment.

So, friend, will you choose to be well-fed over merely fending today? Share your story below.
